"Yesterday, I saw you standing there
Your head was down, your eyes were red
No comb had touched your hair
I said get up, and let me see you smile
We'll take a walk together
Walk the road awhile
`Cause, I've got a hand for you"
Hootie & the Blowfish. What a name for a band. The first time one hears it, the immediate temptation
may be to laugh and make fun of the band members who came up with it. That would be a mistake. For,
whatever the situation was that inspired the name, something really good has inspired their music. With
a debut CD that sold 16 Million copies in the 1st year, one would be wise to put aside derisive thoughts
and take a listen. The first song you may want to listen to is `Hold My Hand'. This rock song has great-
ness written all over it; a strong melody, powerful harmonies and potent, positive energy lyrics that stir
the soul. The visual created, of a friend holding their hand out to you saying, "Get up! and let me see

you smile," let's "take a walk together", I'll help you along for awhile, is a very moving visual. It stirs up
the emotions and makes one feel good. Don't we all want that? People in our lives that not only care, but
are willing to be right there beside us, to lift us up, not bring us down? People who "don't want to be one
of your problems", but want to help solve them? Friends to hold our hands? "With a little love and some

tenderness," the song begins, "We'll walk upon the water, we'll rise above this mess." Indeed. Truly, if

good things, in abundance. There are many in this world that do not feel good, and it shows, so, it is time
to change that. It is time, as the song says, to "take the world together, take `em by the hand". Take them
to a place where they can be anything they wanna be, the place of feeling good. It's time we dedicated
ourselves to loving people "the best that, the best that we can". It's time we held each others' hands.

The silverhawk feather that graces our front page was chosen for it's significant spiritual
symbolism. Hawks are symbols of spirit, wisdom and power. The hawk is the messenger. It is
also about visionary power and guardianship, the hawk is very protective of the young in its
nest. It teaches us about providing for family and self. Hawk teaches us to be observant and to
pay attention to what we may overlook. This could mean a talent we don't use, a blessing for
which we haven't expressed gratitude, or a message from Spirit. The hawk has keen eyesight, it
