Solving Disputes
OCTOBER IS CONFLICT RESOLUTION
MONTH IN COLORADO
Listen. Talk. Work It Out
Governor Hickenlooper noted earlier this month
that, "In Colorado, we do things differently, we
work together, we collaborate..."
In a statewide effort to promote more civil com-
munities and encourage constructive problem
solving across the state, the Governor, the State
Assembly, and 26 cities and counties have pro-
claimed October as Conflict Resolution Month
in Colorado.
Now in its eighth year, Conflict Resolution
Month promotes broadening perspectives and
using collaborative options to solve disputes.
The campaign promotes alternative dispute
resolution through educational events, celebra-
tions, workshops, art exhibits, conferences,
proclamations, and endorsements.
In October 2011, 2,000 Coloradans took part
in 35 events. Events planned for October 2012
include two conferences, various workshops
and classes, a photo exhibit, a poetry slam, and
other programs. A complete event calendar can
