Let It Grow...
¡°Standing at the crossroads, trying to read the signs
To tell me which way I should go to find the answer,
And all the time I know,
Plant your love and let it grow¡±
¡®Let It Grow¡¯ is a beautiful gem of a song by Eric Patrick Clapton, born 30 March 1945, an English musi-
cian, singer, songwriter, and guitarist. He is the only three-time inductee to the Rock and Roll Hall of
Fame: once as a solo artist, and separately as a member of the Yardbirds and Cream. Clapton has been
referred to as one of the most important and influential guitarists of all time. Clapton ranked second in
Rolling Stone magazine¡¯s list of the ¡°100 Greatest Guitarists of All Time¡± and fourth in Gibson¡¯s ¡°Top
50 Guitarists of All Time¡±. Let It Grow was first released in 1974 on Clapton¡¯s second album, 461 Ocean
Boulevard. It is a most powerful and lovely song with a most basic and enduring truth that is the answer
to indecision. In life we quite often find ourselves standing at the crossroads, a place where we must
make a choice. Symbolically the crossroads have usually been represented as a major decision, one that
involves the choice between right and wrong. Often it was a previous wrong choice that became a pain-
ful conclusion leading to this next crossroads. It can be tough deciding which way to go. We try to read
the signs, looking for the answer. Deep down in our souls, however, all the time we know, that the way
of love is the path to the rest our souls are seeking. This is the message of ¡®Let It Grow¡¯. When you are
standing at the crossroads, plant your love, let it blossom and let it lead you.
¡°Stand at the crossroads and look; ask for the ancient paths, ask where the good way is, and walk in it,
and you will find rest for your souls¡± Jeremiah 6:16
Love is lovely. Indeed. We just love listening to that song. And it¡¯s an appropriate song for Spring, a time
of decision and preparation and planting gardens of all kinds. It¡¯s a most beautiful time of year and this

The silverhawk feather that graces our front page was chosen for it¡¯s significant spiritual
symbolism. Hawks are symbols of spirit, wisdom and power. The hawk is the messenger. It is
also about visionary power and guardianship, the hawk is very protective of the young in its
nest. It teaches us about providing for family and self. Hawk teaches us to be observant and to
pay attention to what we may overlook. This could mean a talent we don¡¯t use, a blessing for
which we haven¡¯t expressed gratitude, or a message from Spirit. The hawk has keen eyesight, it
is about opening our eyes and seeing that which is there to guide us. Hawk is also about new
beginnings and always moving forward along the correct path.
