The Sunshine
Uplifting The Western Slope
it¡¯s presence felt in the brisker air, and seen
in the amazing colors as well as in the first
occurrences of water turning to ice in the
high country. You will find water running
all through this edition of The Sunshine
Express as we focus on this most excellent,
amazing, magical and quite mysterious
substance. A substance that is the most
necessary for our very existence. Little is
really known about the intricate workings
of water at the cellular level, yet modern
physics is beginning to focus on it with
some surprising discoveries. Although the
rigorous science is still in progress and
under debate, one probability emerging
is that our thoughts and intentions have
an effect on water. That¡¯s a revolutionary
idea to many, however an idea that is not
really new to those who have believed in
holy water throughout the ages. And when
you think about how we are affected by
the loving intentions of others, and that
we are made up of mostly water, well,
the dots are not so hard to connect, so to
speak. These observations, combined with
common knowledge of water¡¯s ability to be
solid, liquid, and vapor, also make it easier
to see how we are all really connected,
through water! We are all water. Oh how
we wish we could publish for you all of
the cool water stuff that we have on file,
but alas, space is limited. So, as you delve
into this fun packed (and wet!) edition of
The Sunshine Express, try to see your fel-
low beings inhabiting this wondrous Earth
as water. You might just see things a little
differently afterwards. Have fun, enjoy
September, and remember that your smile
is the most important thing that you put
on each day. We love you!

I Feel Good...
¡°I feel good,
I knew that I would now.
I feel good,
I knew that I would now...¡±
¡®I Got You (I Feel Good)¡¯ is a twelve-bar blues song by the legendary James Brown that was recorded
and released as a single in 1965. It was his highest charting song. With a brass-heavy instrumental ar-
rangement, it also features the emphasis ¡°on the one¡± (the first beat of the measure) that characterizes
Brown¡¯s funk style. [editor: This is the source for KingDaddy¡¯s 30 year use of the phrase ¡®On the one¡¯ to
compliment top performers of anything.] The lyrics have Brown exulting in how good he feels (¡°nice,
like sugar and spice¡±) now that he has the one he loves, his vocals punctuated by screams and shouts.
Truly, he feels good. He knew that he would. He had faith in his love for her. He had faith that when he
held her in his arms he would ¡®know that¡¯ he ¡®can¡¯t do no wrong¡¯. And his faith was rewarded. A harvest
resulted from sowing his faith. It is such a small sentence, one lyric, ¡®I knew that I would¡¯. Small yes, but
it¡¯s the key. How do you feel good? Know that you will. How do you know that you will? See it, want it,
ask for it, believe it. Then you will know it. Listen to the song. That will make you feel good. Every time.
We know that it will now...

The silverhawk feather that graces our front page was chosen for it¡¯s significant spiritual
symbolism. Hawks are symbols of spirit, wisdom and power. The hawk is the messenger. It is
also about visionary power and guardianship, the hawk is very protective of the young in its
nest. It teaches us about providing for family and self. Hawk teaches us to be observant and to
pay attention to what we may overlook. This could mean a talent we don¡¯t use, a blessing for
which we haven¡¯t expressed gratitude, or a message from Spirit. The hawk has keen eyesight, it
is about opening our eyes and seeing that which is there to guide us. Hawk is also about new
beginnings and always moving forward along the correct path.
