I Understand
¡°Sometimes I feel like giving up
Seems like my best, it just ain¡¯t good enough
I feel like I¡¯ve done all that I can do
Do you see, do you care, Lord
All about what I¡¯m goin¡¯ through?¡±
When the subject of courage comes up, the beautiful 2004 song ¡®I Understand¡¯ by Smokie Norful
always seems to come to mind. It is a gospel song that absolutely reminds us that, if we trust in
God, we really never have a single thing to fear. For if God is with us, who can be against us, right?
Of course, it all hinges on that one word, trust. It takes courage to trust the unseen voice, but once
you take that leap and really trust, that little seed of courage grows stronger and stronger. But you
must have the courage to trust Him. As the song says, ¡°I am the Lord, I see everything you¡¯re going
through, yes, every burden, every trial, every tribulation, yeah. And I understand, I understand, I
understand.¡± The song continues, ¡°He knows just how much you can bear, and in the time of trouble
He promised He would always be there.¡± He sees, He understands, He is always there, He promised.
Powerful, yet how can we believe Him when it seems the world is crumbling around us and enemies
are at every corner? Well, the song addresses that too, ¡°He says, I am the Lord and I changeth not.
And I won¡¯t forget nor have I forgot. And everything works according to My plan.¡± Again it all comes
down to trusting God and his plan, and that takes courage. In the book of Joshua God says to us,
¡°Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged,
for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.¡± So be of good courage friends and trust God
because wherever you go, He will be with you. He promised it over and over, even in song, ¡°I am
God, trust Me, I got the whole world in My hands.¡±
Happy September! It¡¯s that time of year again when it seems that time has sped up and the
Summer has disappeared, the temperatures are dropping, the trees are changing like magic into gold

The silverhawk feather that graces our front page was chosen for it¡¯s significant
spiritual symbolism. Hawks are symbols of spirit, wisdom and power. The hawk
is the messenger. It is also about visionary power and guardianship, the hawk is
very protective of the young in its nest. It teaches us about providing for family
and self. Hawk teaches us to be observant and to pay attention to what we may
overlook. This could mean a talent we don¡¯t use, a blessing for which we haven¡¯t
expressed gratitude, or a message from Spirit. The hawk has keen eyesight, it is
about opening our eyes and seeing that which is there to guide us. Hawk is also
about new beginnings and always moving forward along the correct path.
