More Than This
¡°I could feel at the time
There was no way of knowing
Fallen leaves in the night
Who can say where they¡¯re blowing
As free as the wind
And hopefully learning
Why the sea on the tide
Has no way of turning¡±
¡®More Than This¡¯, written and sung by Bryan Ferry is a 1982 single by the English rock band Roxy
Music. It was released as the first single from their final album, Avalon, and was the group¡¯s last Top
10 UK hit (peaking at #6). Although it only reached #102 in the United States, it remains one of
Roxy Music¡¯s best-known songs in America.
This simple yet complex love song implies meeting someone and feeling at the time that, who
knows where we, like fallen leaves, will blow to. So it points out rightly that it is living in the mo-
ment, soaking up and appreciating the love that matters, hence the refrain ¡°more than this, there is
nothing¡±. The moment is so precious since it is all that we have. Love is the only thing there is. And,
¡°like a dream in the night, who can say where we are going¡±? It could all be gone tomorrow, ¡°there
was no way of knowing¡±.
In the end, there is nothing more important than the love you share with someone, the moments
together. More than this, there is nothing. - KD
Welcome to the April/May edition of The Sunshine Express! I am glad that you are here. Come on
in, take your shoes off, get comfortable and enjoy all of the fine treats that we have gathered here
for your enjoyment. It is a busy time of year with Spring in full bloom and Summer on the horizon.
With rafting and gardening and vacation planning and so much more to do it can be overwhelming
and yet so much fun too. Be sure to check out the exciting article on page 4 about how the Dolores
River will for the first time in over a decade have enough flow to be raftable.
Also, it is time once again to ¡®Take Mom Fishing!¡¯ to the Miramonte Mother¡¯s Day Fishing Derby
on Sunday, May 14 from 6a-3p. Look for entry forms on our website or sign up at the lake the day
of the derby. Once again the person who weighs in the longest trout will win $500 cash, with more
prizes to be won from area merchants, and only $10 any age to enter. See you there!
On a personal note, I am happy for and send blessings to my fourth Neice, who I¡¯ve just been told
is expecting a baby. This will be the second grandchild for my younger brother, who was so excited
that he made me promise to announce it here! So there you go. Congratulations and may the baby
live long and prosper. Amen.
Ok folks, go forth and have a most excellent fun filled, happy Spring. Easter blessings to you and
always keep smiling, because you are loved! - KingDaddy

The silverhawk feather that graces our front page was chosen for it¡¯s significant spiritual
symbolism. Hawks are symbols of spirit, wisdom and power. The hawk is the messenger.
It is also about visionary power and guardianship, the hawk is very protective of the young
in its nest. It teaches us about providing for family and self. Hawk teaches us to be obser-
vant and to pay attention to what we may overlook. This could mean a talent we don¡¯t use,
a blessing for which we haven¡¯t expressed gratitude, or a message from Spirit. The hawk
has keen eyesight, it is about opening our eyes and seeing that which is there to guide us.
Hawk is also about new beginnings and always moving forward along the correct path.
