Summer
¡°In Atlantic City or out in Malibu
Or any where between, I¡¯m telling you
When you feel those balmy breezes on your face
Summer time is the best time any place¡±
Songs that describe a feeling or sentiment vividly quite often move us straight into a state
of happiness, or can just bring back good memories.
Like ¡®Summer¡¯, by the band War. The melody, the easy beat and gentle tones, plus the de-
scriptive universal experiences of summertime expressed in the lyrics of this masterpiece,
combine to draw one into the whole scene and mood of the season.
¡®Ridin¡¯ ¡®round town with all the windows down¡¯, ¡®stretched out on a blanket in the sand¡¯,
¡®feeding pigeons in the square¡¯, ¡®young lovers walking there¡¯, street musicians, boys playin¡¯
stickball. ¡®Cause it¡¯s Summer¡¯ the song says, and you really feel it.
And usually, if you really love Summer, you will find yourself singing along.
¡®Yes it¡¯s Summer, My time of year...¡¯ - KD

The silverhawk feather that graces our front page was chosen for it¡¯s significant spiritual
symbolism. Hawks are symbols of spirit, wisdom and power. The hawk is the messenger.
It is also about visionary power and guardianship, the hawk is very protective of the young
in its nest. It teaches us about providing for family and self. Hawk teaches us to be obser-
vant and to pay attention to what we may overlook. This could mean a talent we don¡¯t use,
a blessing for which we haven¡¯t expressed gratitude, or a message from Spirit. The hawk
has keen eyesight, it is about opening our eyes and seeing that which is there to guide us.
Hawk is also about new beginnings and always moving forward along the correct path.
